A Cotswolds Staycation

A Cotswolds StaycationPublished: 23 November 2017

My husband and I recently had a short, one-night stay at a wonderful hotel in the Cotswolds. We had heard about Dormy House through friends and it was one on our list to try. The family run Farncombe Estate on which the hotel sits is made up of Dormy House, Foxhill Manor and The Fish, 3 hotels spread over 400 acres.

It was splendid and lived up to all of our expectations. Recently awarded Hotel of the Year by the Small luxury Hotels of the World, we knew we were in for a treat. With such hectic and busy lives with young kids, we were looking forward to 24 hours of peace, tranquillity, good food and wine.

The House Spa was wonderful, with a lovely 16m indoor infinity pool as well as an out door hot tub. We spent time swimming, relaxing and reading ahead of our treatments which were exceptional.

In the evening, we had dinner in the more casual of the two available restaurants, the Potting Shed, which serves delicious, hearty pub food. And after a quick drink by the fire, we retired for the night in one of the ‘Splendid’ rooms. The rooms are all individually designed and all different; from super stylish to traditional and rustic depending on what you like.

We had a short walk around the Broadway in the morning after breakfast and then after a midday checkout, we headed to the small market town of Chipping Campden, still in the Cotswolds, for a stroll. We had a lovely lunch at Huxleys (recommended by Dormy house) which boasts a wonderful, English charm, before heading back home to London late afternoon!

It was the perfect break and the perfect place to rest, rejuvenate and catch up on sleep! My only wish was that we had stayed longer!
